What this means in practice

Calculator results are estimates. They are based on federal tax and FICA (USA), Income Tax and National Insurance (UK), income tax and Medicare levy (Australia), income tax and ACC levy (New Zealand), and federal + Ontario tax, CPP/EI (Canada–Ontario), using the standard deduction or Personal Allowance and no state tax. Your real payslip will differ — state tax, health-insurance premiums, retirement contributions, student-loan repayments and other deductions all change the number.

Articles are general education. The Saving & Growth Tips articles explain ideas — budgeting, saving, negotiating pay — with worked examples. They are not recommendations for your situation, and they never recommend a specific investment, product or course of action.

No guarantees. We do not promise that a saving plan will save a particular amount, that a raise strategy will work, or that any figure on this site matches your payslip. Tax law changes, and rates are updated once a year — always check the tax year and verification date shown on each page.

What to do instead

For decisions that affect your money — tax filing, retirement contributions, debt, or a major purchase — talk to a qualified tax adviser or financial adviser, or to your employer’s payroll or HR team. They can look at your actual circumstances, which a general calculator cannot.
