About

Homiotake is a free take-home pay calculator. Type in your salary, and it shows you what you actually keep after tax — with every step of the calculation shown, line by line.

Why it exists

Most salary calculators give you one number and no explanation. A salary of $60,000 sounds like $5,000 a month, but after federal tax and FICA a single filer in the USA takes home about $4,199 a month in 2026. That gap is the number your budget has to work with — and it is the number most tools hide. Homiotake starts from the take-home figure, because that is the money you actually live on.

Who runs it

Homiotake is run by Isha, who also builds CubPrintables, free printable worksheets for children. The calculators are built and checked by hand against the official sources — the IRS for the USA, GOV.UK for the UK — and every rate carries a verification date. See the methodology page for the sources.

What it does — and does not do

It does: estimate take-home pay for the USA (federal tax + FICA, 2026) and the UK (Income Tax + National Insurance, 2026-27), show the full working, and publish plain-language guides on saving, budgeting and negotiating pay.

It does not: give financial or tax advice, file taxes, offer payroll services, or guarantee any figure. Every result is an estimate. It also does not ask you to sign up, log in, or hand over an email address — there is no account, and your salary never leaves your browser.

How it is funded

The site is free to use. In future it may show a small number of clearly labelled advertisements, and may link to products it recommends. Advertising never changes a calculation, and no result is ever hidden behind a payment or a sign-up wall.
